I can't say enough about the car. Roomy, great acceleration without a lot of drama. Replaced the stock filter with a K&N. Regular oil changes at 3k despite waiting for the indicator(just my pet peve). Great car! |

He loves it, but now he is getting a "Service Stability System" message which he is going to get checked out next week. |

What have I done?
Routine wear and tear things. Front Rotors & Pads. New tires (Goodyear Comfort tread. I tried the Triple Tred at first, but I did not like the way the car handled with them. Fuel Filter. Switched to Mobil 1. Both Crankshaft sensors.
Wear & tear items I was surprised I had to do: 1. Front motor mount. 2. Rear air shocks.
Major Items
1. AC compressor and actuator. 2. Trans rebuild after 0741 Code. ( I am not 100% sure the re-build was necessary, but it was not on my nickel, so I didn't make a big fuss) 3. Valve cover gaskets, new plugs, extender boots, and the rubber rings that the plugs seat in.
Impending Items:
Catalytic converter (periodic rotten egg smell)
Annoying Items
1. Top dash pad curling at the edges. 2. Wind noise from sun roof. 3. Suspension rattle. 4. Ticking sound from motor when cold. 5. Nightvision does not work. 6. Need mode actuator for rear AC to work properly. 7. Driver's side heated seats do not work.
I have spent about $2900 so far and I am truly thankful that I have a pretty good extended warranty. That has saved me another $2,700 (Trans and AC compressor) I am hoping that the car will settle down and I can do some trouble-free driving for while.
When the car is running right it is something to behold. But there have been a lot of issues these first few months. I will be REALLY unhappy if the next six months are like the past six months.
At the time I thought I was getting a good price for the car ($11,500). I guess one could say if the dealer had done all this work then the car would have been $15K.

Low freon. Tip! On the dual AC system. If the drivers side seems a little warmer then the right side. Its low on freon. No codes will set. Guage readings will appear normal. Found this on the hard way. http://images.andale.com/f2/115/106/...9_fake_008.jpg

New to this forum - 04 DTS/previous 02 Deville, 99 Deville; also kept up with family 00 and 03 DHS. All except 04 DTS used about a Qt or more of oil in 3K Mi. Have seen fuel pump go bad (driver running tank too low?), water pump leaks and a few other probs.
Anyone had intermittent hiccups while driving, shutting off at idle or acceleration? 03 DHS about 70K miles - cleaned throttle body, IAC valve, cannister purge valve. Will run fine for a week or so and then act up. No codes stored, no SES. Looking at cleaning EGR valve and checking fuel pressure (bad Pump? FP regulator) filter changed less than a month ago, few partilces found in filter- not significant.
Any thoughts would be appreciated - Thanks in advance. |

The 2000 and 2001 model year cars had trouble with those. The new ones are redesigned, but your symptoms are consistent with bad crankshaft sensors (one of them anyway, there's 2). Mine behaved this way for a long time before it actually threw a crankshaft position sensor code.

No problems really, other than the usuall shitty brakes. My NAV unit had to be replaced under warranty about a month ago.
Oh wait.. I was plagued with power window regulators that went bad one after the other on all 4 doors. That sucked, but nothing more than those problems.
..... runs to go knock on some wood! |

No major problems
Leather pulled away from under front passanger shoulder belt mount
Ashtray lid hinge broke on left rear door
I have gotten computer code errors, They correct after I shut the car off for a couple of minutes. This has happened twice. Computer will act like Microsoft wrote the code.
I clear the codes through the information panel.
The car doesn't use oil. I follow Cadillacs recommended services and use regular oil, not synthetic.
Gas milege is great. 18-20 in city, 28 hwy when the car is fully loaded. 32 when it is loaded to heavily. Might be attributed to my living 6500 ft above sea level. |
