ive got a 02 DHS with just under 80k, ive had it since 33k. problems ive encountered are my rear leveling shocks started leaking, i unhooked the air-compressor and replaced the shocks with some manually ajustable monroe "maxair". i fill em up or drop em...two inches either way....with my air compressor in my garage. right now im needing a state inspection but i cant pass because a code is popping up about either my 4th gear or torque converter has a malf.. ive put exhaust and a K&N. it flys. |

I have an Onyx Blue 2002 DTS that I purchased in early 03. It had never been titled just certificate of orgin issued so Caddy certified it. I am the original owner and have enjoyed owning the car. My bigest concern has been the battery. I am now on my fifth battery because the car and the heat here in FLorida do a good job of killing them. Once the original battery went road side service replaced two of them and my local dealership replaced one. The battery the dealer put in did not last 18 months. I decided to try a diffrent brand because it has a three year replacement at no costr to me. Since none of the batteries have lasted three years I will not have to purchase another battery.
Caddilac has tested the electrical system and can not find anything wrong. This car has every option that was avaiable in 2002. I'm sure this does not help maintain he battery. It was driven by one of the Vice Presidents of GM. When I purchased it it had 3,400 miles on it. I saved $20,000.00 off the MSRP of $58,000 I now have 51,000 miles on the car.
Some of the other things that have been replaced under warranty include adaptive seat control, water pump gasket, right tire rod end outer, trim panel, auto parking brake release, front head light lenses, steering box, correcred rattles and wind noise. Claude Nolan Caddilac here in Jacksonville has been wonderful about taking care of any concerns and have provided a Cadillac loaner to me any time I have taken the car in for warranty repairs. |

My Concourse would blow it's doors off and outhandle it with 150K miles on it. Maybe I just drove a bad Deville. I expressed my opinion to the salesperson and he suggested a 2000 DTS that they had. I knew it was different as soon as the engine roared to life and I looked down at the laser instrumentation. After I hammered the gas pedal a time or two going down the street and checked out it's handling ability they offered to let me take it home for the weekend. I already knew it was the one so I took it home that day and bought it the next Monday. I thought the only difference was that the shifter was on the console. They were like night and day. I've had the car for over 4 years now and some of the problems that it has had are 3 window regulators, case half gaskets, water pump gasket, outer tie rod ends, A/C motor shorting out, broken motor mount and I'm sure I'm leaving out a few other small things, but they've all been fixed promptly and the car runs and looks like new still. Fortunately I learned with my '95 that I would be needing a warranty with my next Caddy, so I purchased one (that has recently expired). Some may call me delusional, but a couple times I got a brand new DTS while mine was at the dealer getting worked on, and I couldn't wait to get my 2000 back. The new ones seem to have more power but handle like a base model Deville. Just my opinion. Neither of my Caddys have ever left me stranded (except when I got the rebar struck in the gas tank, another story) and I can't imagine having any other type of car as my family car or daily driver. |

Haven't had a chance to take a peek under the car yet BUT i hope it's just a wet or loose connector as I don't relish the thought of having to change out a rear hub. I am also installing a Navigation Radio I picked up on Ebay GM #25764007 and would like to get ahold of CadillacSTS2003 for one of his wiring harnesses. |

It has about 90k miles on it. It gets about 16 mpg city and 27 highway. I love it, took me a while to find it at the price I got it for in good shape, but it was well worth it. I bought it from a reputable dealer and so far only thing to go wrong is the famous window regulator failure and an intermittent passenger side service airbag message and diagnostic code (seems like a short circuit somewhere). Besides that it seems flawless, wish they made aftermarket HID projector headlights for it though!

Bought it new and just traded for 2005 base after 145,000 miles. Was still getting average 27 mpg on cross country trips (coast to coast). Used nothing but Michelin (3 sets). Had its problems but looked good and ran great. Had trouble with vibration until rotors were turned on the car. Used ceramic pads.
=crankshaft sensors replaced twice, once under warranty, second with the newer revision at 90k.
=water pump replaced
=intake manifold boot
=power steering hose |
