Hey, I have a 2003 DTS, bought it used with 58,000 miles on it. Now at 77,000 miles I know why they sold it! Must be a lemon! 63.000 New front wheel bearing driver side. Both front window regulators driver and passenger replaced along with the rear passenger, only one to go! New CV joints left and right, and the crem de le crem new motor mounts or should I say hydraulic dampeners, motor mounts were never like these, and my cousin who helped me with that one (a master mechanic for 25 years) told me don't ever bring it back to do that again, and this is why I hate working on cars anymore. It was 8 solid hours for both of us and I have to tell you now the engineer who had that idea should be run over by one! Today I went out to this car I love and after all this and being treated like a princess, it welcomed me with a dead ac I'm still trying to figure out if it is the blower motor or a resistor or who knows. It sucks that we love the car because it sure acts like it does not love us. Other than that its a great car!

Does anyone know if there is a ccamber adjustment on the rear of a 2000 DHS? Is it part of the air shocks?

Re: 2000-2005 Deville/DTS/DHS Check In !

'01 Deville DTS I purchased with 82K on it last week. Needed four new tires. So far nothing major but have noticed the LR clunks over bumps and considering getting a new knuckle. Having a difficult time getting the vibration out of the tires. Other problems noted are the drivers heated seat doesn't work but found OEM parts through Brasington for $85. Car was missing the garage door opener but found that at a salvage yard for $5. The dash panel corners are also curling a little. Gonna have the interior guy take a look at that when he installs the heated seat parts.

2000 DHS. Sometimes strange electrical dashboard phenomena. Seems to clear up if I shut engine off then restart car.

Things that have happened:

(1) Security System light stays on

(2) Get message saying problem with theft deterrent system but no code was set

(3) Fuel guage reading of zero fuel. Restarted engine and got normal reading.

(4) Radio shut completely down. No display, power on/ off knob doesn't do anything.

would be interested if anyone else encountered problems similar to above.

Other problems: door lock actuator failures, crossover coolant leak, crank sensor failure, steering position sensor failure, brake rotor vibration.

Re: 2000-2005 Deville/DTS/DHS Check In !

I presently own two 2003 Deville's, and they both have been very comfortable and semi-reliable cars. One has 117k and the other 105k. There are a few poorly designed high wear items on the car (especially window regulators) that will cost you lot's of $$ if you are not mechanically inclined, but if you are fairly good at diy auto repair, most of the parts can be purchased for between $30-$100 and only require an hour of so of labor and simple hand tools to install.

Here are the common failure/wear items that both my Deville’s have had between 80k-110k:

1. Antifreeze Coolant tank sensor fails causing check coolant light to illuminate. (Requires a replacement tank that costs $80 from Cadillac)

2. Window Regulators break often. Replaced 7 of the 8 window regulators on my 2 Deville’s with ones bought off E-bay. They are easy to replace and only cost about $50. each.

3. Water pump outer seal cover o-ring leaks, and water pump also wears out. Cost for outer cover o-ring ($5.00) and water pump ($50.00) takes about 1.5 hours to replace water pump.

4. Intake plenum boot cracks underneath causing very rough idle. ($20.00) and 45 minutes to replace.

5. Power steering pump squeals, and the pressure hose leaks. ($80 for new hose from discount auto, 2 hours to replace.

6. Front brake rotors warp every 2 years ($30.00 each) easy to replace.

7. Front engine mount cracks/splits. (Haven’t replaced either one yet and the cars drive fine.)

8. Rear strut upper bushings break.

9. PVC valve hose cracks/splits under intake manifold causing vacuum leak.

10. Crank position sensors (both cars failed early on while still under warranty and the replacement ones have worked just fine ever since.)

11. Saving the biggest for last: The Transmission torque converter slippage trouble code will cause illumination of check engine light, but cause no real drivability problems. The light has been on for 40k miles in one of my Deville’s without any problems. I refuse to pay $1500-$3000 to replace a leaking seal just to make the check engine light go out.

Other than these problems, my cars have been great. They still look and drive like new and the Northstar engines are showing absolutely no signs of wear. I really believe that if taken care of properly, anyone should be able to get 250k-300k miles out of these cars without any trouble.

Re: 2000-2005 Deville/DTS/DHS Check In !

What's up!!!!! New to the forums here and just bought my second Caddy a few weeks ago! Had to give up my 91 Fleetwood a year ago (FWD) 125,000 K (no issues besides serpentine belt)

So far, my 2002 Deville base is good as can be and I'll cross my fingers since I bought it with 90,000K

I'll try and post a pic soon!!

Re: 2000-2005 Deville/DTS/DHS Check In !

2005 Base Deville, Light Tranished Silver, Sun Roof, Heated/cooled Seats. Bought last Oct with 33,000 miles and certified warranty to 100,000/72. ($16,500) Driven it almost 4000 miles and no problems. Oil is still at the top of the dip stick. Getting over 20 mpg in my city driving and got 28 on the only highway trip I have taken. Have the service history (thanks to this list) and see one motor mount replaced, radio replaced, center console replaced (?), ash tray aligned and two tire pressure senders replaced.

Ride is great, handling good, fuel economy better than anticipated and overall very well satisfied. Only cons to me are seats are not as comfortable as expected, digital dash hard to see in bright daylight and high beam indicator very hard to see. This is my eleventh Cadillac, but I have been around for a few years. I still believe a Cadillac is the least expensive car to own in the long run. Never been anything by a GM in my stable. Bunch of Pontiacs, couple of Olds and my last was a Buick PA Ultra. One Chevrolet (75) was the worst and most expensive car owned.

Re: 2000-2005 Deville/DTS/DHS Check In !

2001 Cadillac Deville Silver on black 108000 miles

Problems two window regulators have failed since I bought the car in December.

Cold knock is heard from the engine on cold mornings. Excessive carbon? I dont know a family mechanic said it could be the valva adjusters. Does anyone know where to buy these?

Besides this I love her. 16 city and 28 highway cant complain with car of this class.
