And no doubt mnre to continue...
Driver seat and steering wheel leather starting to show a little wear, as is the paint on the A/C condenser. Not quite as tight as new, but not a rattle trap either - especially considering all the times this thing has been taken apart.
I wish they could do something about the aircraft carrier sized turning radius on this thing; an Escalade ESV is easier to maneuver. I look like an idiot trying to get into tight spots here in NYC.
But despite ALL the problems - which seem to be never ending - I really like this car. You really appreciate a full size Cadillac after driving a loaner - even when the loaner is a Lucerne. Get stuck in an Aveo like a did for several days, and you'll worship a Cadillac.
I'll probably keep this car for a while (hopefully) because I hate what they did to interior of the 2006 and later DTS, with the cold, bland dash lighting (why the Lexus like "floating" gauges were taken out is beyond me), hard cheap plastic dash components, silly and confusing climate controls, and silly icons instead of English lettering on various controls as if American drivers don't know how to read. |

1) Steering Rack had a leak got that replaced
2) inner tie rods both replaced not sure which end it was
3) had rotors and pads fixed twice on all 4 sides within a 3 year period
What's wrong with the vehicles.
back speakers are blown out, sometimes the cd players stick so the cd's won't come out, the arm rest is broken, i'm hearing a humming noise coming from the front end on the vehicle and the warranty i have outside the dealership will not fix to much money they said/horn is hard to blow, a/c does not work: dealership stated there could be something blocking the hole for the a/c but if it's something the kids did to it, warranty not covered but if it's something in there that they didn't do warranty will cover/ Dealership states it will take about 5 hours to take out the dashboard at $89.00 hour-i don't think so! |

Its a 2000 Deville with 112k on the odo. The car was a fleet vehicle and was maintain pretty well overall...
Question #1
I replaced the brakes... I kinda screw myself over by buying autozone brake pads and even after they were put on, the car would still sqeal. Pedal feel is fine but its just that those cheap brands always struggle with fitament. So whats the standard brakes I should be buying for my car?
Question #2
I get a strong wobbling vibration at highway speeds. The car rides cadillac smooth at lower speeds but shake very strongly on the highway... With alot of it coming thru the steering column and pedals... What could this possibly? I have do know the shocks need to be changed? But could this be a motor mount or something in the steering?
Question #3 I want to do a tune-up and 100k service... What should I be replacing and looking for?
Any help will greatly be appreciated... Im glad to be part of the Cadillac Fam... |

#1 - Have the brakes replaced with the highest quality components you can afford. The most important function of your car - is the ability to stop - and control stops. Personally, I run slotted and cross-drilled HD rotors and Extreme Duty pads. I have VERY good brakes.
#2 - Tires, balance, suspension, balance of rotors and bearings.
Vibration can be caused by motor mounts and N* mounts aren't the best in the world. With 112 on it - I'd sure consider they may be part of it. I had an 01 that some moron [that would be me] ran the crap out of out here in the desert and needed mounts three times over the 165k I owned it. Loved that car but traded it for the 04 Deville DTS I now drive when I punched a hole in the radiator and --- needed mounts again.
At 57,k on my 04 now - still no problems with the mounts --- yet. If I keep my foot out of it, it may not need them --- oh, yeah, like THAT's ever going to happen.... |

I would also follow up with a tire rotation at every oil change.

The car came with most of its recent service records as follows:
87,504 Replace RF window regulator N/C
88,491 Replace Battery N/C
Replace front engine mount N/C
90,246 Reconnect canister hose vent solenoid N/C
91,067 Replace power steering pump N/C
Complete brake system flush $119.95
91,133 Re do brake flush N/C
91,852 Replace Crank sensors and battery - hard starting N/C
95,012 Replace power steering hose N/C
97,165 I purchase and within minutes drain and fill cooling system with fresh dexcool and distilled water and cooling system supplement.
98,808 Perform Transmission service, change oil and rotate tires $236.41
During inspection mechanic points out slight half case leak and evidence that the crossover may be leaking, red deposits on a bolt head. Has not leaked any amount that I can see since I refilled it at 97,165. So perhaps the cross over gaskets were once replaced.
I have since put another 2,100 miles on including the trip from Florida to Connecticut.
I averaged 27.7 mpg and used 1 quart of oil. I did the trip by myself in 1.5 days and it was a pleasure. I love this Car! |

And also that factory 8" sub thats mounted in the rear deck blows really easy. Its about $350 to replace. But with all that being said, I will drive nothing except Cadillacs for ever........ |

**Replaced crankshaft position sensors when purchased at 71k miles.
**Front seat heaters not functional. Rain-sense windshield wipers not functional.
**Three (3) window arm brackets broke during a 60 day period at approx 150k mile (found replacements on e-bay at less than half the cost of new and replaced them myself).
**Received engine code regarding EGR valve at 163K - removed/cleaned/replaced valve (approx 1/2 hour job) - no problems since.
**Fuel gage stopped functioning properly at approx 160k - no problem for me since I track mileage religiously
**Change oil every 3k
**Have tracked mileage since purchase - get approx 18 MPG city / 21 MPG Highway |
