95 deville questions

Hey everyone...im new to the site...im 17 and i have a 1995 cadillac deville...i got it for my b-day last year. Its in excellent condition. The other day the SERVICE RIDE CONTROL message came up. can anyone tell me what that means? Also theres a rattling sound comin from under the car only when accelerating..it gets really annoying....anyone have any ideas? thanks

There's a huge thread on the service ride control message. I think it might be in the suspension section. I have the same message on the same year and model. Good luck though. I've been trying for about 2 1/2 years to fix it but there seems to be no obvious answer. Some people talk about changing the struts others talk about changing a resistor, but nobody will list the exact steps to fix and remove this error. If you find anything of use please let me know.

I just went thru this a few months ago with my 95 deville.

The computer for the suspension is in the trunk. You have to access it to get the "flash codes". You probably have one or more struts that are not "responding", thus setting off the warning.

You can't get new electronic struts anymore.

To stop the "service ride control" message, I spliced a relay into the wiring harness to the suspension computer in the trunk. This tells the "driver information center" display that everything is OK with the suspension system.

Do a search here on "speed sensitive suspension", that's where I found the fix. It took about an hour to do it.

Yup....sounds like a pretty common problem.

Check your DIC to see what it is....if its what basscatt menitoned, I thinks its more of an annoyance than a problem.

I think Arnott Industries makes a suspension replacment (passive) kit that includes some electronic plug/relay to fix this
