I took the laptop out to the car, followed the directions that were 100% dead on to my 95 Deville and I too now have all the extra's. I started the car kicked the A/C on auto and scrolled and watched. Like another poster said, the temp went up to 217, the thermostat opened and the temp dropped to 197.
I too will leave it on coolant temp mode. My Deville is "new to me" at 114000 miles. I replaced the water pump, thermostat and coolant (+ GM tabs) a month ago.
Thanks to all for your help and info! |

I just did the upgrade, and it is a big help. I have a slow leak in the radiator, and now feel safer that I can monitor the temp easily. Thanks!

Ahh yes, the one thing that scares me about this car, it runs hotter than hell. I will sit in traffic and watch it go all the way to 225 before the fans kick in and it starts dropping. Mine heats up and will stay at around 175 for about 5 minutes then it heads up to 195. It stays between 195 and 205 when driving even on the highway. When sitting still it just goes up and up. I was ready to shut the car off the first time I saw it go this high because I was fearing for it. |

I just bought a 94 Sedan DeVille and the first thing I did when I got it home was try this upgrade. It took all of two minutes and it worked. Always nice to see the coolant temp and RPM's. |

At what point does the northstar kick into the fabled "camel mode"
Has anybody driven in camel before? whats it like!?
I also just did this upgrade a few days ago! I wish i had known of it a long ass time ago! I was going to post my appreciation here but didnt want to bring back an old post but as long as its here. The highest ive seen the temp go was 223 when i was idling the engine while i was putting some winter air in my tires.
THANKS KDIRK!! |
