What is normally the auto button on models without the heated windshield gets reconfigured for the heated windshield on/off buttton. I'm not sure how this affects the option programming procedure, as I have not run across this setup myself. The factory service manual doesn't make any mention of the procedure being any different regardless of the cluster setup with or without heated windshield.
In any case, you should be able to back out of diagnostics by repeatedly pressing the OFF button several times until the cluster returns to normal operating mode. I have done this and it works, you just have to press it several times as opposed to hitting auto once to exit.

Thanks for responding,KDirk,---you`re correct,i do have the heated windshield button.I have a soft-ray UNheated windshield now since the original heated one needed replacing and the heated ones are`nt produced anymore.
I went into the diagnostics anyway and got as far as the "nnn ISO7",waited a bit and the "nnn" came up "015" not the "016" i was looking for.Since you`re instructions state "if you have something other than "000" or "016" you may not want to change anything until you post it in the forum" i backed out by turning the ignition off.
I don`t know if adding 32 to "015" would work or not,so i`m not changing anything until i get other information from you or another helpful member here on how to proceed.
Again,thank you for responding. |

Yes, adding 32 to the existing value will add the additional items to your DIC display, as the option values are summed to provide the desired combination of features for the vehicle. This will give you a value of "047". Once entered, follow the remainder of the procedure as posted, and when you back out of diagnostics and cycle the info button, you should have the extra items shown.
FWIW, I originally posted the warning about other numbers in case someone had a strange variant or export version I wasn't familiar with, and wanted to avoid mess-ups that could cause unpredictable results.
If you have any other questions, post back.

Thanks KDirk, one more question before i proceed.Since AUTO/ECON are toggled on the same button, will pressing AUTO/ECON and FRONT DEFROST together actually SAVE the "047" value?
Since pressing AUTO/ECON does NOT back me out of diagnostics, perhaps pressing AUTO/ECON and FRONT DEFROST won`t save the "047" value either.
I just want to be sure before i try this since as you mentioned,i have rare "015" number to start with along the toggled AUTO/ECON button, and one wrong entry could disable the vehicle.
I really appreciate the time you are taking to make this work. |

I ve got to admit i was a bit nervous after i saved the "047" and then pressed the "OFF" button a few times to leave diagnostic mode.
I then pressed the information button and for the first time in 12 years i now have coolant temp. info, rpm`s,and battery voltage info along of course with the default info.
I can see why the Cadillac designers may have opted not to include the 3 extra data functions as default info.Since most Deville owners are "apparently" older drivers, they have to press the information button a few more times to exit information which takes their eyes off the road,if driving, and may take their concentration off the road just a bit too long and could lead to a mishap.I actually noticed this as i scrolled through the info as i was driving. As we all know,a lot can happen in a fraction of a second when driving.
I am glad to have this extra information and by the many other posts here reporting success by applying your information,i can see they are glad to have the added info also.
Thanks again for the detailed information! |

(Not that I care about RPM...) Just wondering if I missed something.

On mine, RPM is the very first thing that shows up when I hit the info button from the blank screen. I just changed the value and it worked fine. Took all of 1 minute to do. |
