    2002 DTS transmission problems

164k on original trans in traffic notice at 5 mph it jolts like it slipped then catches does this mean my trans is close to death? Also i know my torque converter is bad that little piece of rubber how long do i wait to fix these problems? What would be the way to go here rebuilt or get a new trans? What's the cost difference? Anyones input would gladly help thanks.

    Check fluid level? Mounts?
How do you know your torque converter is bad?
What is that little piece of rubber?

I know torque converter is bad by the code. Left it alone because i'm not taking long road trips anymore & the shop said it was some little rubber piece that cost 50 cent. Emission test throughs the code evry year now. Since the torq is in the trans figure i wait till trans gave up. Took care of front mount just this summer. Low oil could be but why only at 5mph? What's that between 1st & 2nd gear shift & not between the other gears?
