No, 10W-30 is good for winter, in a pre'00 Northstar. That's why GM specified it.

Thanks for the info guys. Is there any way to prevent these headlights from destroying themselves? Both of the ones on my deville are falling apart, and I spoke with another guy with the same car who said he has had to replace his three times already

I've never heard of anyone having any problems with the headlights on these cars. What's wrong with them?

the only thing that comes to mind -
really high mileage getting "sandblasted" -

or using either 100 watt halogens - or HIDs -
breaking down the plastic over time -

Well both the headlights basically fell apart on the car. And I knoe that the person who had it before me took exceptional care of it. Another guys I met had replaced his twice for the same exact thing. Its like the lense just falls off.

The lenses are permanently attached. If they fell off they may have been removed before (I've done that once). Carefully clean the inside of the lend and reflector if needed (you'll only get on chance). Then apply a small bead of clear silicone caulk around the lens and replace it. That should keep it in place with a water tight seal.

I`m guessing oem parts would be more than $178 a pair shipped. Will definitely use your services when i have to use oem parts.

Unless the lenses are cracked or melted, they're not too far gone. Though you might need more aggressive sand paper than what's in the kit.
