trouble installing monroe 90009 rear shocks 95 deville 4.9L

Replacing original rear shocks with Monroe 90009s. Could not get the top 90009 bolt through the mounting hole without interference from the bottom arm that the bottom of the shock bolts to. Looks like i will have to take the bottom arm loose near where the bottom of the 90009 connects to get the 1-2 inches extra I need. Has this been others experience. The old shock went right back in because I could compress it. Am I missing something easy??

Answering my own thread. Took the bottom control arm loose to get the 2 extra inches needed to get the Monroe 90009 in place. Noticed the bottom knuckle bushing was shot, so glad I took it apart. Lots of good info on this site about changing knuckle bushings on this site. I am going to go with the Dorman bushing that comes with the right size sleeve and use a ball joint press from Auto Zone. Will report results.

first I will say you are posting in the wrong forum -
this the the engine how-to forum -

you should be posting in the Deville forum -

next I will say that the coil-over shocks are a HORRIBLE CHOICE -
they will bake your car wide like a truck -
and the ride height will never be right -

you should have gone with manual-fill air shocks -
assuming the automatic level control isn't working properly -
and you don't want to spend the $$$ to fix it -
