Stiffen up '96 deVille with sloppy handling?

My '96 deVille with 154K on it seems to 'float' down the road more than I think it should. The steering and front suspension doesn't feel lose and worn, the air suspension and leveling system seems to be working OK, but the car bobs around more than I like on road undulations. I know an older Cadillac isn't going to feel like a Porsche, but is there some way to stiffen the ride up? I was surprised--with all the other electronics built into it--that there wasn't any ride firmness selector, as in many other cars. It doesn't act like the shocks are bad (no prolonged pitching up and down after a road dip) and they don't leak down when it's parked for a couple weeks. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd guess a new set of struts and shocks would help from your description. Are they original?

Then again, what you think it should do and what it was designed to do may be two different things. Has it gotten softer since you've owned it? How long has that been?

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm going to find someone with a similar car and see how theirs rides; maybe I do need shocks.

That would probably be your best bet. I'd say find anything from a '96 - '99, they should all be the same.

My 1996 floats too even with new shocks and struts. Not too much but enough to smooth out the ride.
