    No crank issue

I have a 2003 Deville and just recently my battery went dead. Jumped it and no crank. I have checked every fuse in the thing and all is well. Crossed starter relay and it cranks perfect. Crossed the terminals on the battery and still nothing. What i find weird is that on my gear indicator is that there are no boxes on the selected gear. Tried to get codes and have power at the dlc but when trying to check for codes it shows that there is no connection.

    Any ideas?

    Re: No crank issue

Have you tried wiggling the gear shift while trying to start it?

    Maybe a failed ignition switch?

but would that cause it to not show any indicator for any gear? and also why it died?

    Re: No crank issue

No, I don't think that has anything to do with the indicator. That I believe is controlled by the neutral safety switch. It could also cause a no start. That's why I asked if you wiggled the gear shift, but maybe the switch simply flat out failed. That should set a DTC though. You said there where no codes?

No need for a scan tool. See the "sticky" thread at the top of the FWD Deville/Fleetwood page on how to pull DTCs.

    Re: No crank issue

Got home and tried to get the codes. Went to the PCM prompt and all it said was "no pcm data" or something along those lines. Maybe a PCM fault?

    Re: No crank issue

Hmm, I wonder if maybe you have a bad PCM, connection or ground.

Back in post #1 you said "Crossed the terminals on the battery". What exactly did you mean by that?

Removed both of the battery terminals and crossed them.
