    Re: No crank issue

    Would a PCM out of a 1998 Deville work in a 2003?

    ----------

I did read on this forum that it can sometimes resolve the issue.

    Re: No crank issue

Hopefully he meant he touched the - and + cables together. Hopefully he didn't connect the - cable to the + terminal on the battery.

    ----------

Even with a dead PCM shouldn't the car still do something when you turn the key to the on position?

Both removed from the battery. The car still turns but just doesnt turn over. I did only touch the cables together. I didnt touch the negative cable to the positive while it was still connected.

    Re: No crank issue

Well then your PCM, theoretically, should still be ok. When you turn your key to the on postition, does the car acts as it normally should? Is it just not doing anything when you go all the way to the start position?

It doesnt crank. When you look at the PRNDL on the dash it does not have an indicator such as a box indicating which gear it is in.

Check ALL of your fuses, fusible links, and negative grounding cables in the engine compartment.

I have checked all of the fuses and links. But have you guys heard of the indicator disappearing and the fuel gauge not displaying anything?

OK, in that case you didn't harm a thing.

    Re: No crank issue

So you turn the key and get nothing? No crank, no click. Do you have power anywhere else?

Have you tested the battery with a DVM or had it tested or swapped it out with a known good battery?

    Re: No crank issue

Yup installed a brand new battery yesterday. When i turn the key i can hear the starter relay in the PDC under the rear seat click but thats it. No trying to crank clicking like you would hear from the starter if your battery was dead, I mean nothing.

    ----------

Oh and i have power everywhere else.

    Re: No crank issue

Well, at least you know you have power to the relay. Just for the hell of it, run a redundant ground. Use one of your jumper cables and run it from the engine to a good body ground somewhere.

    Re: No crank issue

Maybe a bad starter or solenoid or connection at the solenoid. Might be time to have a look.
