Angry 95 Sedan Deville no sound to start

So the other day I went to start up my car and it would not start. There's no click, crank, nothing. My lights and radio all turn on just fine and a co worker checked my battery for a good connection and corrosion, he also checked my fuses. Please help!

Your car is 18 yrs old. Is this the 3rd battery? Did coworker remove battery terminals and clean them with wire brush? Or just look at them? Did u try to jump battery? Got a booster pack?

What's the battery voltage (both static and while cranking)? If you don't know how to check it, take it to a parts store and they'll test it for you.

Unless it's a Concours. But I'm assuming that since his coworker was able to check the connections, it's not.

    Well I will assume 4.9
The wiring to the starter runs very close to the front exhaust pipe.
There is a heat shield there, but it is not guaranteed protection.
You really have to get under the car and check those wires carefully.

It could also be the ICM.

It is a 4.9L but yea we did try to jump it and nothing happened was thinking to take it to autozone so they can check the battery also. I just go a new battery last year but I heard that a cell could go bad in the battery regardless of the age.

The ICM has nothing to do with starter operation.

If the lights are working, you should at least be getting a click from the starter.

I stand corrected. MoistCabbage is right. If it was the ICM, the starter would still engage, but it wouldn't start.

No other than when I open the door and first put the key in the security light comes on then goes away. I still haven't tried to start it in neutral in case there's a problem with my neutral safety switch though.

I would suggest taking the battery to the local parts store for a check, then reinstall if good or replace (after cleaning battery cables and posts). If car still does not crank the starter could be the problem.

Re: 95 Sedan Deville no sound to start

Finally got my battery to autozone today and the guy said it was 50% charged and since my battery is only a yr old he believes something may be draining my battery. Tomorrow I will be reinstalling it to see if the charge will start my car. If that is the case what could be draining my battery? They said I'd have to get my alternator/starter checked to see if that is the problem.
