    2000 dts. Transmission swap

    Im looking at an 2001 sts and 2001 dts to replace the transmission on my 2000 deville dts all are 9 vin . Question is are they interchange able ?

    Should all be the same transmission unit in the 2000 - 2004 series of VIN 9 cars.

    Really up 2004 , i was under the impression the gear ratio was changed after the 2001 .. Thanks for the reply

    The VIN Y is a 3.11:1 cruise/economy ratio. VIN 9 is a 3.71:1 "performance " ratio - so for a given vehicle speed the VIN 9 engine is always at a higher rpm - further up in the power curve.

    This table of speed/rpm, above 43 mph with TCC engaged, was done by mhamilton with input from many CF members.
