TCC Solenoid woes. Where is that pin!?

    I have a 2000 DHS.

So! I've got everything pulled apart after reading around a bit. I have enough clearance, so far as I can tell to remove the old solenoid as I can slip the replacement in. Problem is... I can't find the pin that has to be removed from the solenoid. Problem with the old one was the electrical connector was broken on the solenoid itself.

I feel *so* close, I just don't see a pin *anywhere* securing it. I even got the little lady w/her slim hands to feel around the bottom of the solenoid. First time poster because... well... after having the car a year and a half... replacing the front struts, rear shocks, and doing the plugs after needing the replace a coil... I figure most everything about these cars has been posted and reposted 100 times over. Reading usually works.

I can't find a picture. I've looked at the exploded diagrams. I just actually can't *find* the pin!

I can take a picture and post what I'm seeing, though it'd be what's been shown before.

The above video starts to use a scribe/hook (I've got one ready when I see the damned thing) to pull the electrical connector and the pin. I'm one pin away and a few more hours of pain and frustration from getting my Caddy back.

Thanks... again. Sorry this has been beat to death but I've actually let the car sit a but trying to research more and I just can't find the thing.

Have you checked the Tech Tips forum. There might be a tutorial with pictures in there.

Is it possible the pin is in the bottom of the side cover?

Well, I looked in the tech tips. There is a link that just has the video posted above with a couple posts that give no additional info. I had in my mind one of 2 places it'd be... but both places being right on the solenoid and, since I can see the solenoid and don't see a pin anywhere, I'm rather confused. I gave it a few good tugs by hand then tried to hook it but it's definitely secured in there somehow. Just can't *see* the thing to pull it. I have an inspection mirror and have tried to hit every angle around the solenoid w/no success.

Unfortunately, I can't uploads a picture of my solenoid for whatever reason. I tried but the option to 'submit' wasn't available. May need a higher post count. Regardless, using the diagram on this thread...

I would be lead to believe the pin is wrapped around the middle of the solenoid. However, there's nothing that I can see on mine. It appears to just go into the innards of the tranny from that point with nothing securing it.

The pin is there, but it is not on the area you are looking for. The solenoid does go into the "innards" as you say, but right below where it goes in, there is small slot where the pin is actually located. A mechanics mirror and flashlight will help visually locate it. See below for what you are looking/feeling for. The next headache you will encounter is actually putting it back in!!! That is what took me the longest! Good luck!
