    Re: Wont start help !!!

I assume the battery cables are clean and tight?

    Might be a bad starter.

Sounds like the starter may be shot. Check the relay first, but I think you need to replace the starter.

I'd bet on the fuel pump.

I would have the battery load tested before anything else.

The fuel pump has nothing to do with the car not cranking.

It's not spark plugs ......... and probably not the alternator either - those have nothing to do with whether or not the engine rolls over during starter motor operation.

You have problems with the starter, key switch, starter relay, low battery voltage, or TheftLock.

Sounds like a bad starter. I had a starter go bad in an '06 DTS w/ 115k miles. Worked fine until it suddenly died at a gas station.

I would hear one click upon turning the key to attempt to start it. If I tried again, I'd hear nothing. I would have to physically remove the key from the ignition and reinsert it and try to start the car to hear the one click again.

My 2003 Devilleis doing the same thing. Had it in the shop at the Cadillac dealership an he changed the battery an then says it's a bad negative ground wire that runs from the engine block to the frame of the car...is this correct?

It could be. I had a negative ground cable go bad on me about 5 years ago. The difference in that case was that there was no power to the car period. No lights, no radio, no nothing.

In the case of the bad starter, everything works as is should but the engine doesn't turn over when you turn the key, it's almost as if you tripped the anti-theft device.
