"Check Coolant Level" "Headlamps Suggested" when all is good, cool and lighted enough

Just bought this sweet 2004 Deville DHS, but seems like it gets "headlite aches" and "hot flashes"..... Parked in my garage overnight and starting up in the a.m., I either get "headlamps suggested" with daylight headlamps on or I get "check coolant level". Sooner or later those (whichever one shows up) goes away. Annoying....any suggestions fellow Cadi owners?
Also would like suggestions on maintaining soft hard top. Thanks.

Headlamps suggested is a message triggered by the twilight sensor in the top of the dash - it merely says " It's cloudy or dark - Do you want to turn on the headlights ?" I get it all the time in the garage because I refuse to let some stupid "Sentinel" control when I want the headlights on. Turn on Sentinel (Owner's manual) and the car will light your way ..........

Check coolant level - level - is a low warning. Not dangerous - a message that says "Look at your coolant level - cold - and adjust it to the level stamped in the top and side of the surge tank".

Sounds like you have your head lamp slider switch (twilight sentinel) turned off. Slide the switch just slightly to the right and forget the headlamps. They will come on and go off as needed all by themselves. The farther to the right you slide it the longer the delay in turning them off after shut down. I haven't touched a headlamp switch in so long I've forgotten how to turn them on.

If your coolant level is OK (about 1/2 full) then it may just be a sticky float. Mine is beginning to holler at me every once in a while. I suppose one of these days I'm gonna have to replace that damned tank.

Thank you. Coolant level is fine and I only get the message when the engine is initially turned on. The message goes away after a couple of minutes, then I don't get it again until maybe the next morning. Not going to worry about it since I know there's coolant sufficient. Headlights suggested message hasn't come on since I turned up the sentinel. All is good !
