    Time Trouble... Clock Giltch

So, I didn't drive the SDV for a couple of days. I just took it out for a few errands, and every time I turn it off, and then back on, the clock resets to 1:00. Every time. WTF is going on?

    ----------

It's the factory radio/clock by the way.

Not sure how some of the other cars are, but if I were to guess, I would say the cmos battery built into the stereo is bad. Cmos in electronics is responsible for providing a low amount of power to keep things like time, bios, and ram/rom active when power has been cut; like turning off the car. To fix it, you have to replace the battery. In this case, I would not know where it is. Typically it is on the circuit board it is providing power for. But getting to it may be another issue...

How old is the 12 volt car battery ??? Some cars/models/radios will reset the clock to 12:00 or such on a low voltage startup - and, yes, the radio onboard memory battery may also be at fault.

Well, I took the car and had the battery tested and it checked out fine. Also, in what may or may not be a related matter, the horn has stopped working. I guess the gremlins are coming out for Halloween. Is there a fuse for the horn I could check? Is it possible the two issues are related? Should I start a new thread for the horn?

    ----------

I FIXED IT!!! Oh, I'm so proud LOL. I went through my manual and figured out that the number 11 fuse was for the radio AND the horn. I replaced it and it everything works now!! The small pleasure in life!
