Recommended tune up includes? Deville 4.9

About a month ago my wife noticed this car & for it's age & 140,000 miles , it looked & drove solid. So far I've changed the oil & filter, air filter, pcv, and had the trani flushed and filter changed. Last week it start acting up once warm and idling (CAM Sensor code in current). Ordered a new cam sensor and quality set of cap, rotor & wires, plus have a set of new delco pro sparks to put once the parts arrive. The 4.9l engine set-up looks pretty much like my '87 Camero, but is there something else that'd be smart to replace or do during a tune up?

What about suspension lubing? Other than inspect boots and check for tire play, don't actually know about suspension maintenance specifics for '95 Sedan...?

Yeah, grease every fitting you can find. I forget how many that model had, but check the rear as well. I seem to recall one or two back there, just not sure which year (or car )

No fittings on the rear for the k-body models (earlier c-body did). Front has zerks on the ball joints, outer tie rod ends, and stabilizer links.

Thanks, that's pretty helpful! Guess to replace all flexible brake line hoses that five would be needed (2, 11, 17, 33 & 49)?

okay, replaced the cam shaft sensor (also call a Hall sensor IIRC) within the distributor... its the part with the tiny open box end 1/4" wrench. The car had threw a code and become unreliable but now that it is replaced life is good!

    lots more to do....

While changing the soft brake lines we found a bad proportional valve that is leaking (part #9), And also verified that there are 5 soft brake lines.

Not surprising. Brake lines were a weak point for GM.- for a long time. They used plain galvanized steel lines well into the 2000's - probably the last major manufacturer to do so.

Bad metal brake lines tendency? Well, that a little scary to know!

Next problem... yesterday up on the lift the oil pan was covered in oil everywhere, and it's not trani fluid or from the filter... also tried tightening the oil pan bolts 2 - 3 weeks ago. We'll be in the area with the pipes off next weekend as it turns out, so... which is the best fix for the 4.9l oil pan? A new gasket, gasket goo, or both? And if a gasket then which style of pan gasket is needed? Oddly, ebay and oher parts places listed both of these gaskets for the oil pan:

As expected: AC Delco / GM 8679392 Oil Pan Gasket

This one? VICTOR REINZ OS32472TC Oil Pan Set Gasket-Engine Oil Pan Gasket

    Thanks --

New gasket. For best results, use an OEM style gasket with a steel insert only. RTV is required where the oil pan and timing cover meet.

Motor and tranny mounts were high on my to do list as one of them was severed completely when I bought my 4.9L But mine only had 72k on it. The motor would actually rock when I got on it, or put it in reverse. Something to think about. It cost me $800 in parts and labor to have somebody do it in California, 5 years ago.

How are them electronic struts doing? Does it have conventionals in there yet? Any service ride control msgs?
