Help With Brake Light Issue Please

I have a 2005 Deville. On a recent road trip the Brake Light came on after I was parked at a friends house for several hours when it had never came on before. The brakes are fairly new and work fine and as I was driving at night the light was annoying so when I stopped I wiggled the ignition switch and it went off. The issue I am having is that my code reader now gives me a Yellow code indication a "Possible Problem" but does not give me a code thus it won't let me clear a code. Any Ideas?

It's probably nothing. Use the onboard code reader that's installed in the car to pull the code. Check the stickies at the top to see the procedure.

    Fixed - Incorrect info.

Crawl into the driver's footwell and check that the brake lamp switch is properly snapped into its mount.... top of brake pedal arm.

    ??? When did these cars lose user-controlled OBD ? 2004 or 2005 ?

Several ideas and a question or two before I do a lot of typing.

Learn how to display trouble codes with your diagnostic display. Go here and scroll down to your year model for instructions.

That answers my question - obliquely.

Devilles had onboard code display through 2005. Sevilles through 2004 as explained in the sticky; "DTC display; 1998-2004 Seville, 2000-2005 Deville and other models with 3 buttons on the RH side of DIC"

Except the brake light I guess.

That must refer to some aftermarket portable code reader.

What you really want to know is are there any "B" codes or "C" codes set. Most aftermarket code readers will not display "B" or "C" codes. Learn and use the method in the sticky thread previously posted.
