    Aftermarket Keyless Entry

Can I use one or am I stuck going to the dealer? My car is a 2000 and I've read most is a dealer option. True or false?

Have you tried Ebay? You'll probably still have to have a dealer program it.

Program for driver one and drive two? That's the only thing I've read. I'm just talking about a basic unlock and lock from amazon.

If you buy 2 I'm guessing you'd have to have 2 programmed.

So programming any remote would have it register to "driver 1" and "driver 2?" Well it's only 18 bucks on Amazon. I might give it a try to just do the basics and if it only unlocks and locks, I'm just fine.

    Re: Aftermarkert Keyless Entry

Are you just looking for key fob or an addon keyless entry system?
The aftermarket systems do not use factory alarm system IIRC, so you you want that to work may have to stick with OEM fob's off ebay.

    Re: Aftermarkert Keyless Entry

I'm sure key less entry had to be standard for these cars if not its a very common factory option. find a remote on eBay for $4. You will have to bring it to the dealer to have the fob programmed. If your car has the memory option the remote will have a #1 or #2 on the back to correspond with that driver. Either remote number can be programmed to #1 though, so you'll only need one fob.

    Re: Aftermarkert Keyless Entry

The car already has keyless entry, driver recognition, keyless trunk and fuel door - controlled by the key fobs. The lock/unlock buttons also control the TheftLock system on/off.

You should have received 3 keys - 2 black, one gray, and 2 remotes, #1 and #2.

Read the owner's manual on personalization using key fobs 1 and 2. The later key fobs are programmed by a GM dealer.

Here's your key fob ........... and adding another remote on top of the one already built into the car will be a nightmare of compatibility and electronic/electrical problems.

    Re: Aftermarkert Keyless Entry

If you want to add a new system just goto a shop that does that type of thing and let them deal with it all. But like others said why go aftermarket when the car should already have it?
