    Need help identifying part

Hi I'm new to the Cadillac world, just bought a 1998 Deville base trim. I was looking to replace the dash speaker when I found this instead. Now I'm trying to figure out what his part is.

Does your car have an aftermarket radio or remote start? Almost looks like a signal booster of some sort, coax cable not used on many things besides cell/tv/radio antennas.

No aftermarket radio yet. Just the base tape player. I do have this microphone looking thing by the steering wheel. Could the car have had a factory tel/radio ?rsz_dscf0535.jpg

    Re: Need help identifying part

sat radio - remote starter - phone -
whatever that is for - it is obviously NOT factory -

and that "little microphone looking thing" -
is actually the grill for the cabin air temp sensor -

there is a small fan behind the grill that sucks in cabin air - past a thermistor -
and sends that information to the climate control system -

Oh wow, I would have never been able to figure out that was a temp sensor. Any idea on how to figure out what exactly the sat/phone thing is?

trace the coax cables - see where they go -

trace the wires from the electrical plug - see where they go -

look for any other labels - or part numbers - and do a search -

look for receipts in the pockets of the owners manual for aftermarket stuff -
