    power steering leak

After me n my buddy changed his high pressure hose, we realized a leak was still present when bleeding the system.. It appeared that when he turned left it would begin to drip a good amount, not so much when wheel was turned to right! The leak was coming from the middle of the car, a Lil bit in front n to the right of where the supply n return hoses hook up... Any help with where it could be, I was guessing steering gear boots but I believe there right on the inside of the tire? Thx

YES - but it isn't the steering gear -
it is simply called the rack - as in rack and pinion steering -

inside the "tube" is a part that looks like a ladder - this is the "rack"

the rack gets moved back and forth by a special worm gear - the "pinion"

hence - "rack and pinion" steering -

What exact part are u referring too?
the seal inside the rack is probably worn out and leaking -

According to all data, Chilton and Mitchell, the rack and pinion is the steering gear. Even on rock auto it list the rack as the steering gear. I suppose because "steering gear" is a more general term for a geared device used to steer a vehicle. And a "rack and pinion" would be a more specific way of describing that device.

    HEY Grandpa -

I always thought of the steering gear -
along with the pitman arm - idler arm - and drag link -
as being replaced by the rack -

    but - I stand corrected -
