how do i replace my waterpump pulley?

I noticed my serpentine belt had slipped off the pulleys and when I tried to put it back on it just kept on slipping off again and again. then I noticed the water pump pulley was sticking out about an inch or so from where it should be and that's why the belt wouldn't stay. I have no clue about how to work on a car at all can anyone simpley explain what I need to do to fix that pulley???

If the pulley is not aligned where it should be with the belt, you probably will need to replace the water pump.
I had this happen recently. My belt came off and I discovered the W.P. pulley was wobbly.

you don't "fix the pulley" - you replace the water pump -

call around and get quotes on replacing the water pump -

choose a shop - and have the car towed there - DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR -

Most times the pulley will be damaged so the quote should include the pulley as well and possibly another serp. belt

Why would the pulley be damaged? I've rarely ever seen a damaged water pump pulley and I've replaced more water pumps than I could ever count lol

The pulley should be bolted to the water pump. If it got loose you need to bolt it back on. If the water pump broke apart and that's why the pulley moved replace the water pump. If the pulley isn't damaged don't bother replacing it.

Re: how do i replace my waterpump pulley?

The pulley can move forward because the bolts holding it to the waterpump shaft loosen, elongating the pulley holes and in extreme cases, crack around those holes. Best thing when replacing the pulley is to use star washers under the bolts. They dig into the pulley preventing future loosening. Seen many damaged pulleys on 4100 and 4.5 engines. I mention the pulley only because this poster will not be doing the work and needs as close to a complete estimate as can be gotten the first time.
