Low oil pressure/shut down engine immediately

Recently purchased a 2003 Deville base with 77k. Great condition.
I was driving home from work today and just as I merged onto the highway and reach highway speed, the oil light came on, and DIC indicated low oil pressure. I immediately pulled over and shut down the engine. I popped the hood and all appeared normal: no splattered oil, oil on dipstick (could not see the level at this point).
I turned the key to ON (did not crank the engine) and the oil light was still on. I turned it off.
I waited a few minutes, then turned on the engine. The light was gone. I did not notice any unusual noises, and drove the rest of the way home (30+ miles) with no issue.
At home I checked the oil level. It was half way up the crosshatching on the dipstick (according to the owner's manual, this is correct). What could this be???

It may also be worth noting that a week ago, I got a check engine light. Code indicated torque converter clutch slip (I forgot the code number). I cleared it and it has yet to return.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Low oil pressure/shut down engine immediately

Replace the oil pressure sending switch with a new AC Delco unit. Many threads on this in here, Seville, Northstar Performance and Cadillac Tech Tips. Common fault.

Car up on a lift, lower air deflector removed, remove the entire oil filter adapter - easiest way to get room to work. New adapter seal/O-ring assembly.

TCC clutch slip is P 0741; operating solenoid failure is P 1860. If the SES comes and goes with the P 0741 code, it will eventually get worse and worse: slipping viscous clutch = torque converter replacement - and the code will fail emissions testing.

It's always the EOP switch. Very common. I just replaced one three days ago. It's much tighter quarters than the diagram indicates. The use of a lift would be a God send. The EOP switch lives behind the motor mount, thus the oil filter adapter removal.
