Yea, no. I wouldn't trust it bro. The northstars have head gasket problems until they fixed it in the early 2000s I believe.

If it has the 4.9, I would buy it (but not for that price....I'd go 800). If it has the northstar, pass.

The '95 Devilles had the 4.9 engine which is not known for HG problems.

If it does have a head gasket leak, it is most likely the more typical one.
Just remove heads and replace gasket. No extensive drilling/tapping head bolts like on the Northstar.

However, if it does have a head gasket issue, I would question what caused it to happen. As Ranger said, it is not a typical problem for the 4.9.
Was it pushed too hard? Overheated?

I don't see where it clearly states it has the 4.9 liter engine. It can only be assumed since Concours wasn't included in the model.

Edit: I failed to realize the OP was the person that supplied the engine information! My apologies!

Too bad the HG is leaking, that would be a pretty good price IMO! I paid $1,500 for mine with 139K miles almost two years ago! The only thing that I've done that I feel was an absolute must was the timing cover gasket, since it left a small puddle of oil wherever I parked. I replaced the timing chain while I was in the area due to the mileage but it was by no means failing, it did have a little slack however. Everything else was pretty much routine matenience or for personal peice of mind!

If the rest of the car was good the asking price would have been alright but a tough sell when it needs work. If it was a normal deville with 4.9 they aren't known for head gasket problems but leaks from the water pump and some of the heater lines are common.
