Help- 1999 Concours
1999 Deville concourse
Cam wore 2 lobes/lifters on rear exhaust cam, changed cam and oil pump. I checked engine light since replaced cam sprocket with original, light went out. Now deville is running hot with the following codes.
P0307 on #7, I changed the #7 plug again. all plugs are new anyway with AC Platium plugs
B1255 or B1Z55
The car will heat up and almost get to 3/4 quarters on temp guage, I changed the thermo stat- made no difference. The line on top of res. has anti freeze coming out. Could it be waterpump?

Re: Help- 1999 Concourse
Codes are meaningless without definitions.
If the belt is on and spinning, it's not the WP. Are you sure that the ECT sensor is connected?

Re: Help- 1999 Concours
Disconnected battery and all codes have cleared. had a little surge at idle, changed plugs and wires, all good now. Might change the drive belt, seems to slip a little. Caddy seems to run a little hot, temp guage is in middle and low coolant light comes on. Hopefully not a head gasket now. I changed the thermostat, still no difference in temp. What should I do? Get antifreeze tested for hydrocarbons? change water pump?Put some of that 24 hour sealant stuff in the engine?

Re: Help- 1999 Concours
What is the temperature of "little hot" ? The engine is supposed to run between 190 and 215 - that's the dead area right at 12 o'clock on our "gauge".
Check temps with an IR gun from Radio Shack.
The correct thermostat is set to begin opening at 188 and fully open at 206. Fans go to SLOW at 224 or whenever any HVAC function calls for A/C compressor operation.
Gauge ??? Find the annotated picture in my albums - Click my username, open the profile. Left column, 'albums'. 2 albums, 6 pages of diagrams and pictures, most for 2000 and later, but many apply to your engine.
DO NOT dump any sealant goop into the cooling system. Find the leak and repair it. If the low coolant message displays, is the level at the proper half-full line in the surge tank with the engine cold ?? (Never check/adjust coolant levels with the engine warm and/or running.)
