she is going to HEAR you -

    - HOPEFULLY - she didn't - and it's not too late -
here is what you need to do - IMMEDIATELY -

FACE NORTH - and BOW - - to the NORTHSTAR GODS - 3 TIMES -

Open the car's hood - and stroke the beauty cover - -

    while repeating - 3 times -

immediately after this ceremony - do a cooling system pressure test -

IF the NORTHSTAR GODS accept your apology -

you will see the easy to repair leak -

    if you do - repeat - 3 times -

    and fix the leak -

    if NOT -

lol - awesome! I'll try that tonight for sure.

The cooling system will maintain pressure overnight. I park it at 4:30pm and the next morning it will still have decent pressure in the system. Just tired of chasing leaks. I put about 1/2 gallon in it last night. First time I had to add anything since the radiator was replaced a few weeks ago.

Funny how significant those caps are. How did you determine that you needed a new water pump?

@Bass: I'd recommend one adjustment to your procedure of pleasing the N* gods. Anyone not named bass, Sub, Ranger or Moist (and some others I surely forgot) cannot open the hood and stroke the beauty cover since due to constant work on the car it's i the trunk. I cannot afford the extra 30 seconds to take it off :-)

Anyway, this might also be a good place to remind people that the plastic covers (top and bottom) of the radiator and fans are in fact *not* beauty covers but play a role in shaping and directing air flow.

You need to borrow a good pressure tester to create sufficient pressure for a reliable test. I have a top-of-the-line Stant tester that I bought maybe 30 years ago and it still works like new. You can likely borrow something similar at Autozone (or elsewhere).

Once you have a good tester in hand, pressurize the system up to limit stated on the cap, which is about 18 psi. Then watch and wait. Keep a flashlight handy. You'll eventually see some dripping, unless it's head gasket, which would leak inside engine........

"Radiator was replaced a few weeks ago" definitely caught my attention. Could easily be a defective radiator or bad hose connection.

    Good luck

    --------------------------------
maybe it just took this long to purge all the air from the system -
    after the radiator replacement -

The cooling system will maintain pressure overnight.

it will still have decent pressure in the system

if the system maintains pressure overnight - something is wrong -

the system only builds pressure because the coolant expands as it gets hot -
when the system cools back down - the coolant contracts -
and the pressure is gone -
    --------------------

if your system is still under pressure 12+ hours later -
and the engine/coolant is cold -
that pressure is NOT coming from the normal coolant expansion -

and the ONLY other thing that can pressurize the cooling system -
is EXHAUST GAS - as in a leaking head gasket -

sounds like you should do a BLOCK TEST -

This though had crossed my mine. I will keep an eye on the level. And even if the HG was blown, I don't think it would keep pressurizing the system all night.
