    Alternator/electrical

I was driving than at a red light the lights on the dash right side of the steering wheel came on. The battery light did not come on. So at the next red light I stalled but it started right back up and the lights on dash went off. So I noticed the volts stay on 14.5 than quickly drops to 12.5 btttghjfdbackanbbbackback to bh

    ----------

Omit the last part of that. 12.5 than it goes back up to 14.5. I got home parked and with engine off it is at 12.5. Engine on 14.1 than climes to14.5. Put ac rear defrost on and it goes to 12.8 to 13.6. Car never stalls seems normal. So I take a ride and it stalls at a red light and now check engine light comes on. Start it right up and I go straight to autozone. Engine light goes off. So I get them to check battery/alternator and he says its good. Why am I stalling out and dash lights coming on than off. Is it the beginning stages of alternator going bad ,lose or dirty wire. Crap pls help

Check your battery cables. I wouldn't just assume its the alternator. You need to pull the codes from the car and see what the PCM is telling you. Right now it could literally be anything from a vacuum leak to bad ignition coils to a bad battery. See what the codes are and start from there.

I asked the guy to do it. The check engine light went off as I was going to AZone. He told me he can't pull it unless the check engine light is on. Can I pull it on the onboard system.

What are the symptoms of a bad alternator. What code indicates bad alt. someone knows I'm sure. What is confusing me is that the battery light didn't come on.

Ok po335- crankshaft position sensor A circuit performance

BO429- temp. Control 3 rear circuit range performance
    CO655- level control relay
    U1000- class 2 comm. malfunction

Engine light finally came on I did the test and PO335 is what caused the light to come on because I cleared the code and engine light went off.
So this is want is causing my problem. It does not seem hard to replace.
Do I have to get the PCM reprogrammed by a dealer.
Can I drive the car like this until Friday just to go to work. It would greatly appreciated if I can get details on the best way to replace this. Thanks

P0335- crankshaft position sensor A circuit performance
    BINGO -
this is a known problem - the original sensors were NFG -
made in Mexico - one tan and one gray -

the new ones are made in Japan - and are black and gray -

YES - replace them BOTH -

Also part number for 2002 deville would be cool

gee - do you want me to install them for ya too?

CKP - Crankshaft Position Sensors -

    ACDelco 213-1578 - $37.97 - with free shipping -
    from amazon.com -
    and -
    ACDelco 213-1579 - $43.19 - with free shipping -
    also from amazon.com
    ------------------------------------

It does not seem hard to replace
just tight working space - easier if you remove the oil filter adapter -
if you do that - you will need 2 new "O" rings -

Do I have to get the PCM reprogrammed by a dealer.
you mean the relearn - 99.99% of the time - NO -

Can I drive the car like this until Friday just to go to work.
    maybe - possibly - probably -

It would greatly appreciated if I can get details on the best way to replace this
check in the TechTips Forum -
or possibly in the Northstar Performance Forum -
there should be something there -

The IC will tell u Battery not charging

Your battery volts on the IC may be below normal

A couple indications u should check your codes...

But looks like u found it...

Ok I am concerned about the relearn. The Haynes manual and other web sites suggest to get it relearned. But since the car has a built in scanner it would relearn itself right. I know basscatt explained I should not have too. I just hope I change out these ckps and can just take off when I am done.

    Re: Alternator/electrical

Relearning after CKP replacement? Usually it'll have no problem unless you have problems after the repair, which I have never seen one yet.
