Would I modify this engine? no. Could I and do i feel it is a performance engine in a luxury car? Yes. Do I think the car is set up for performance? No. Did I say it was? No.
Ok, this is my fault. JT I was teasing and warning at the same time. Look at sub's age. He has 30 years on me and I know he has forgotten more than I can remember about MOST things besides cars. My only thing was always show elders respect in how you say things. I know you did not mean disrespect but if you have a different opinion qualify each one with the old hands, they do not have to do this but will help you out of love for doing it.

edit: Oh yeah, that includes young hands like moist with 10K+ post

edit 2: sub did not say you said it was a performance setup he was just being informative because the car comes two ways with the DTS having 300HP and a different final ratio

edit 3: Uh Oh thread got toxic

My age and post count has exactly nothing to do with info and advice. If I didn't give a hoot about things mechanical I wouldn't be here at all - and unfortunately post counts soar when you're trying to keep the Romper Room forums in some sort of order.

Jturbo, When you calm down from your snit, do some of the recommended forums homework to learn about your car and its idiosyncrasies - and please bother to go through my profile and albums as well. You might find out that I have some idea of what I'm talking about - including building and working with aluminum and aluminum/iron engines. You'll find that the info, posted by several members in here to date, is accurate. Your "LS wiring harness and some .... gadgets ...." is out in left field for any 4.6 engine in any car in these FWD forums. Yes, we all know and lust after CHRfab engines - but read their disclaimer - "Not for factory GM cars .....".

Here - this will eat your bone stock 2.0 alive - 7 days a week. I build about 6 a year (not including GM 454's). Olds 455 bored .030 over to 461 + tricks.

My apologies. . . But I wouldn't be quick to say the marine engine is going to beat up on my little ol' 2.0 slow. . .
    The nova is slow too....

Edit: by bone stock I meant the rods/pistons are factory OEM

Nah - not hostile - sparring.

No scotch tonight - gonna concoct a Maker's Mark manhattan. Spin a few LP's - just installed a new set of input tubes in the main amp, let them cook for an hour, then into some Dire Straits.

Outta here ........ (Where you been, SUPER LAC .........?)
