Exclamation Radiator fans not spinning/AC Issue on 97 DeVille

So I just got my 97 DeVille the other day, loving the car already. But I noticed something. The AC isn't exactly cold, but it is cool, I have it at 60 degrees and it really doesn't feel that way. I looked under the hood to see if the AC Compressor is engaged and it looks like it is, I looked over and saw that the radiator fans are not spinning. Does this vehicle use a system where they only turn on when the engine is hot, or should they turn on with the AC too? Or?

Fans should run in SLOW any time a HVAC function is set that calls for A/C compressor operation. If no HVAC function is set, then fans are controlled by the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor via the PCM - fans then go to SLOW at 224 degrees, the engine cools to 213, fans turn OFF and the cycle starts over again - this occurs primarily in slow/stopped traffic - fans are not needed over about 35 mph. In any event, fans go to FAST at 236.

Google "cadillac forums 1997 northstar engine cooling fan electrical circuit" for wiring diagrams. There are several other cooling threads in the last 3 pages or so in Deville - that have the diagram posted in them.

Might check the fan fuse and relays and pull the DTC's. Post them AND their definitions.

Go to the top of the FWD Deville/Fleetwood page, and read the "sticky" thread in how to pull DTCs.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working for me, I guess it's time to get an OBD scanner or borrow one.

If your dash is all digital you holed the off & red temp up buttons at the same time with car in run, doesn't matter if car is started or not.

There is a possibility it won't work, slim chance but my 98 it only has worked once since I got it. Not idea why. Every other Cadillac I've worked on/looked at it works.

The optimal word is "HOLD". Simultaneously press and HOLD the OFF & WARMER buttons.

OK, back to post #1. The reason for the lack of cold temps and fans not running is the B1348 code. When it is low on refrigerant, the system disables the compressor to preserve it and the fans don't run without the A/C on unless your engine temps exceed 224 degrees.

Problem is that code is in history. If freon is low it will spew a warning across the dic and econ comes on. Sounds to me like the ac is working..but who knows.
OP are you seeing a low refrig ac off on your dash?

I did on the first day I had the vehicle, next day it wasn't there anymore. Opening the hood and taking a look inside I see the clutch on the A/C Compressor engaging and disengaging, and it will continue to repeat the process. I paid close attention to the air in the car and for a very brief moment I can feel it get cold when the clutch engages. I assume it's from having low refrigerant.

On a side note, I cleared the codes and ran the vehicle again and no more codes are popping up anymore.

It is low on freon, leaking somewhere. Look for oily residue on any of the ac fitiings.
The fans should be running if ac is on now as others said.

The low pressure cap has the oily residue coming out of it when I turn it on, and when I try and use my AC Pro w/ Quick connect it doesn't stay on or connect to the low pressure cap at all, I push it on and it just won't connect.
