My son has an opportunity to purchase a low mileage titled 1989 Cadillac DeVille convertible. It is not an Eldorado or Allante. I can't find any info on a vehicle badged in this fashion. Did Cadillac have such a vehicle in production or was this a vehicle reworked by some out sourced company? I'm usually interested in older GM models but this vehicle has me wondering.....

I believe there were no factory convertibles and all of them were converted by "Car Craft". Fairly rare car. Good find if everything works! Post pics!

This belongs in Deville - with your other identical post. I believe the car is an aftermarket modification.

    Re: 1989 DeVille Convertible

I think '76 was the last factory convertible if my memory serves me correctly, but that was an ELDO. Not sure when the last factory Deville convertible was made, but it was a looong time ago.

    Re: 1989 DeVille Convertible

I believe Cadillac offered an Eldorado convertible again in '84.

I have a friend who has one. He says it is factory.
    No factory Deville convertibles, though.

    Pictures please!!

    Re: 1989 DeVille Convertible

The Coupe Deville was first offered in a convertible in 1964.

The last one offered was in 1970

    Re: 1989 DeVille Convertible

An 89 deville convertible is a conversion not made by GM. A lot of them aren't the best quality and any special parts that might need to be replaced are near impossible to find. Only get into it if you like punishing yourself or the price is right.

    Re: 1989 DeVille Convertible

FWIW I drive a convertible and never ever use the top except when it's parked in the garage. A non-functioning top wouldn't really be a deal breaker for me. I have been caught in the rain about 3-4 times in the last 10 years. If my top didn't work I would just improvise with a blue tarp in the trunk. Not ideal but 95% of your driving should be in sunshine anyway. I'm addicted to topless driving so I can't bring myself to sell my convertible even though I get several nice offers.
