    Electronic Level Control malfunctioning

I have a 2004 deville with 155k. Lately i've been noticing that when i start the car the ELC comes on and the car levels out. However, whenever i stop, be it a stop light or whatever, the rear of my car jumps like the ELC is engaging again. This will happen multiple times at a red light or when the car is idling. Could i have a bad sensor and how serious is this problem?

Define "jumps". The ELC system can't inflate the air bladders very quickly at all.

I would suspect a leak in one of the air lines. Spray them with soapy water with the compressor running and look for foam.

    Re: Electronic Level Control malfunctioning

The rear of the car jerks upward, almost like its been hit from behind(though not very hard). Its very noticeable and very quick. I'll be at a stop light for 25 seconds or so and all of a sudden the rear of the car jerks up And this will happen quite often.

The compressor comes on for about 30 seconds when i start the car. Is that when i need to check the air lines or is there a way to keep the compressor running?

The "jump" is definitely not the ELC system, possibly a sticking shock?

Does the compressor come on whole driving or stopped, other than when you start the car.

    Re: Electronic Level Control malfunctioning

I never thought of that but it makes sense. I just went out and started the car. Compressor came on and the car leveled out. I let it idle for 5-10min and nothing happened. I then put it in drive and let it sit and again nothing happened. The roads here in town are absolutely atrocious for any car so it makes sense that one of the shocks might be sticking. Is there a way to fix that or is replacing them the better option?

You'd have to replace them. If you bounce the car up and down, does it move smoothly? Does it bounce a couple if times and stop, or keep bouncing?
