All but one if the service managers I've come across, have had very little knowledge (even general knowledge), and several have made things up while trying to explain something, instead of just saying "I don't know", and finding out. Most dealerships are pretty sad.
"Service manager" doesn't mean a thing anymore
    sad - but true -

it used to be a Service Manager "grew" - through the ranks -
that's how I had to do it - starting off as a basic mechanic -
once you could do each and every job the shop offered -
quicker and better than every other mechanic there -
you might get promoted - to head mechanic - then Service Manager -

Re: Does My DeVille Need a Brain Transplant...???

I called this dealer just after I got the car and asked them how to reset the tire pressure monitors when the tires were rotated. He said he didn't know, but then spent about 15 minutes with me on the phone while he looked up the procedure and explained it to me. This gave me some confidence in the dealership. The person who gave me the info about cutting and grounding the wire was the Assistant Service Manager. Apparently, not all Service Managers are created equal.

Anyway, this forum is the first place that I will come when I have or suspect a problem with my car. And I DO respect and appreciate the knowledge of the people who post here.
