    1996 Deville 02 Sensor. What is the right description.

    I have a 96 Deville which through me a OBD II code P0159 (slow response Bank2 sensor 2). From the online diagrams I have studied there is no Bank 2 Sensor 2. What is the correct description of the O2 sensors for the 1996 Deville 4.6.

    Please help!!!!!!!!! This is making me crazy.

    Mid-1998 and earlier:

    B2S1 = left (front) bank exhaust collector
    B1S1 = right (rear) bank top center exhaust manifold
    B1S2 = pre-cat
    B1S3 = after-cat

    I looked at the AWH DTC lists and that's the code and the sensor - but the car doesn't have a B2S2 !!! (If it does, it's a rare bird ...... anybody ever seen this ?????)

    Could this be an artifact of the changeover from OBD1 to OBD-II in 1996 ??

    Thanks for your time in this matter. Guess I will replace all 4 sensors. I will let the Forum know if this one of the cross overs from 96.

    There is no B2S2. Maybe on other OBDII engines. Can't imagine what I was drinking when I posted that in the above link? I think ralphieboy57 kind of led me down the yellow brick road.

    P.S.
    I going to go and correct that so as not to confuse anyone in the future, then I'm gonna go punch my dumbshit card.

    One more time just in case anyone happens to be listening.
    The change from four O2 sensors to three O2 sensors occurred midway through the 1998 model year for all 4.6 Liter engines; Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac and Oldsmobile (was the Oldsmobile Aurora still in the game in 1998?).

    The 'pre-cat' sensor was eliminated during the 1998 model year.

    Easy enough to determine. If your build date (LF door frame) is 1995, your codes could be a nonstandard hybrid of OBD plus OBDII codes.

    If your build date is after January 1, 1996, your codes will be whatever OBDII standard was in effect for vehicles rolling off the production line as of that date.
