03 DTS drinking coolant like kool-aid

yesterday I was driving my 03 DTS to Burlington and noticed check coolant level showed. So when I drove back to Chapel Hill that night the next day I looked and the reservoir was very low, Lower than its ever been before. So I add the 50/50 coolant to the suggested line and drove to work this afternoon which is in Durham. I notice the check coolant comes on again, when I get to work I open hood and look and notice the reservoir is already half empty!. with further brief examination I noticed what looked like condensation or small water bubbles in the engine bay near the reservoir and all over the high pressure power steering hose.. Ive done some reading and saw this is a sign of a head gasket about to go (hope not). but any ideas to what causes this and repair cost?

I don't know where you've been reading that condensation on hoses indicates HG issues, but it wasn't here.

Are you sure you weren't looking at the A/C lines?

Can you smell coolant in the engine compartment.

can't imagine where you read that bit of MISINFORMATION -
but it certainly WASN'T here -

you obviously have an EXTERNAL leak somewhere -

you can "rent" a cooling system pressure testing kit - for free -
at most big chain auto parts stores -

with the engine cold - install the special cap -
pump the system up to EXACTLY 20 PSI -

    and let it sit -

if there are no leaks - the system will retain that 20PSI "FOREVER" -

if there IS a leak - the pressure will bleed off -

find and fix the leak -
    ---------------------------
DO NOT BE TEMPTED INTO USING ANY STOP-LEAK PRODUCTS -

they WILL cause more problems -

Maybe it was A/C lines because I normally dont run my AC but I was today because its hot as fire. But no I couldn't smell any coolant in the compartment

You still need to figure out where your coolant is disappearing to. Surge tanks are known to crack and leak. Likewise radiator side tanks.

HINT: Dried Dex leaves a chalky white telltale residue.

The aluminum A/C refrigerant lines on the passenger side of the engine compartment will drip condensation like rain on a warm, humid day.
