    1998 DeVille power window help

1998 Cadillac DeVille with ~95k miles.

The windows worked fine, then one went out, then another, then another over a couple weeks. The last one standing is the rear passenger that works, albeit somewhat slowly.

I decided to roll the dice on a motor, so I bought the front driver's side and went to replace it. Battery disconnected. Switches unhooked. Door panel off. Motor out. My son wants to hook everything back up to see if the old motor works. We do, and it does. We go ahead and remount it and the window goes up and down fine.

Now for the strange part... the rear driver's side now works as well, and the rear passenger side seems to have its old speed back. The front passenger side still doesn't work, however.

We then take off the passenger side panel, unhook everything, remove the motor, and hook up the new motor. No go.

Does anyone have any ideas why un-connecting and reconnecting the front driver's side window switches would fix some of the windows? Also, any thoughts on where I should look next to fix the front passenger side?

    Thanks!!

The master window switch is prob bad. Both of mine were bad when I bought them(97 &98).
My drivers rear window would only go down at drivers switch and only go up at rear door switch.
All of the wires going to window motors/switches go through the master switch then to the other doors. The master switches are not very good or durable and any water tears them up. Since they get drenched the don't seem to last. My wiring connectors were corroded badly on my 98 and had to be replaced.
The window motors are very reliable in these years.

Would you trust one of these from a junkyard or should I buy a new one?

I buy them used on ebay. One was absolutely spotless the other looks like crap but works well.
    They run 30-50 used.
