Autozone CV axles last 2 months

What could be wrong other than bad luck with parts. I am ready to replace my 2nd duralast rebuilt CV axle on the passenger side. I replaced the OEM because the boot was torn. The Duralast went in fine and rode fine for a little while, maybe 1000 miles. Started to hear a clicking when put in reverse and a slight vibration on low speed acceleration while turning left. Just happens to be the speed and turn I make to get to my driveway. Well I replaced it AGAIN and all was well. Now about the same age and I am getting the exact same problem. I have to replace it again. I am doing it by the book. Torque specs and all. Nothing is loose. Front end was just aligned with new bearings and outer TRE's. What would cause this? Can I just blame it on garbage parts?

We don't call them AutoZone Don'tLast parts for nothing. Ain't lifetime warranties great?

    YEP -

AutoZone house brand parts are PURE CRAP -
the absolute cheapest they can get away with -

    sure - lifetime warranty -

but how many times do you want to replace that same part -

If you have changed them that many times, why don't you try a salvage yard once. Do some research and find what years interchange with yours.

I got a salvage yard one. 100k miles on the car, looks fine though. I'm going to try that next weekend. Thanks for the tip. I am sick of replacing this. It is easy now but still blows my Sat. morning. This is the first time I have had issues with aftermarket CV axles. They never last as long, the boots seem to rot and split in a few years but nothing like this. I know Autozone starters and Alternators and house brand relays are complete trash but now I guess the axles too.

Only buy dumb parts from AZ, like fluids, filters, wiper blades, bulbs, etc. NEVER mechanical or electrical parts.

Put the oem used axle on there today. Smooth turns again. Autozone refunded my$$ so that was nice. One thing I noticed the Oem joints are a lot stiffer even used the rebuilds feel really loose and sloppy when moving them around by hand, like much looser tolerances. I hope this one last. I can knock the job out in under an hour now but I am sick of doing it.

Practice makes perfect. Been there, done that (on different jobs).

Re: Autozone CV axles last 2 months

The autocrap axles I used in the A6 lasted a whole year and <10K miles before the CV boots just dry rotted to the point that they spewed CV grease everywhere.

I replaced one side with their gold line and the other with another OE rebuild. Only because I'm hoping to be rid of the car before they break, again.

It's a real shame, because they do rebuild OEM units and they are cheap.

Words to the wise. I work at Autozone, get 20% off on Duralast brakes, and I will be buying ACDelco pads.

    Just sayin'

    Ditto that.

I get 10% off for being such a repeate customer.

With some exception(their cmax and SD pads), their brake pads are not at all worth skimming out on cost.

IIRC, AutoZone supplies Cardone axles - the same ones you'll get at many of the other major parts houses. The fact that it came from an AutoZone building has nothing to do with it.

If they're Cardone axles, they go to great lengths to rebrand them as their in house axle.

Their 100% new axles may be cardone, but their remans have their name plastered all over everything.
