    02 deville battery total dead

Okay so i accidentally popped my trunk and left it open for 2 days. Just found out about it today and threw a charger on it. Tried the terminal under the hood and a ground and my charger keeps turning off thinking its fully charged after about 10 min or so. So i pulled the back seat and hooked directly to the battery and still had the same problem. I reclosed the truck hoping maybe that was drawing of something but it's still shutting off saying charged. I tried both fast and slow charges. Any ideas? I've never seen drawing a battery dead once actually kill it. Thinking of pulling all connections and hooking the charger up to the battery directly seeing is something is drawing while its charging thats causing the problem. Hoping not to have to replace the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

The trunk light should have turned off after 10 minutes if the key wasn't in the accessory or on position.

    How old is the battery?

Re: 02 deville battery total dead

was looking for a date on it and didn't look like they marked it, it was a napa battery. I bought the car in the fall so i don't know for sure. I got the onstar to light up and radio to light up when i had the charger first hooked up so looks like it may be the battery. Just strange is just so happened to go out when the trunk was open. And the charger still shows full after about 10-15 min with the battery unhooked from the car totally.

It probably has damaged cells. Have it load tested, replace if necessary.

After unhooking it from the car completely and doing a slow charge over night and fast charge today, she fired right up, made sure i had cables in the car and ran her for a half hour and she starts like before, just hoping that somehow the light stayed on or something else drained the battery all the way down and crossing my fingers for now. Thanks again for the help.

It should cut all power to preserve battery also, so either something malfunctioned or more than likely battery is weak.
