The oil PRESSURE message and light have nothing to do with oil LEVEL.

The problem is almost always a faulty oil pressure switch. Replace with an AC Delco part only.

    Re: low oil pressure...stop engine

"Low oil pressure - stop engine" is associated with the oil pressure sending switch on the oil filter adapter. if your message apopears while the engine is hot, idling only, suspect a faulty oil pressure switch. Common. 2 hour replacement on a lift or on your back, car up on jackstands. dedicated work. Several recent threads on this in here and in Engines, as well as in Cadillac Tech Tips.

"Check oil level" is exactly that - the level sensor trips the message at about 2 quarts low - so there's still about 5.5 quarts left in the engine.

Which car ??? 97 or 04 ??? It sure helps.

For the Northstar engine keep your oil level at the <== ADD XXXXXXXXXX == highlighted X's. That's exactly 7.5 quarts with filter.

I personally would not put "Duralast" anything in a dead Briggs & Stratton lawnmower, but that's my opinion.

Take a look at a NAPA store, or talk to Chris in parts at Rippy Cadillac over there >>>>>>> Business hours, EDT - Wilmington, NC

Don'tLast is an AutoZone part. They are cheap for a reason.
