i bought a 2000 deville base model started over heating and blowing white smoke only when car first turns on then goes away!! so i been thinking and found a 2005 deville motor for a cheap price my question is will if be a direct fit in my '00
No. Many different parts, mounting, electrical, electronic, ignition differences.
2000 - 2003 VIN Y will swap. (VIN Y - the 8th character in your VIN).
ANY used Northstar - especially "cheap" - is worth a boat anchor and that's IT. Do a top overhaul and stud job on your present engine and it will run forever. Many, many articles on this and engine compatibility in the sticky posts at the top of the Engines, Northstar Performance threads page and in Discussions, Cadillac Tech Tips.
devilsown, Too bad you don't read the replies to your own thread - and then post in someone else's.
