    Re: Coolant level drops

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Once more: If your engine does not and did not have nuisance weeps before cooling system work, there is no need to use the tablets/powder. I have NEVER used the stuff in my STS and my coolant level, cold, does not change by 1/8" in a year (Yes, different engine, but the advice is germane.)

You guys can run anything you want in your cooling systems, but EaRL knows better (so do I) - and the 2 of us have 87 combined years of fooling with cars. (add in Ranger and we have over 550 years of wrenching........ )

    Re: Coolant level drops

I had all the fluids flushed before I put the car back on the road, so the coolant is brand new. I am thinking that there might have been an air pocket in the coolant, or bad cap (rubber is dried). I am going to start with the cap and keep and eye on it. I don't see any signs of a leak on any hoses. Oh, one other thing; right before I took the car off the road, a friend of mine and I replaced the water pump. I don't know if that could have anything to do with the air pocket theory, it was 7 years ago. Thanks

    VERY possible (actually likely).
