Question Bug Deflector For a 1996 Deville?

Does anyone know if there was ever a bug deflector made that fit the 1996 Deville? If not, I wonder why because I can tell you that it is definitely needed! I drove home last night and since I live in the country, my windshield now looks as though I drove through a cloud of insects! If there isn't one custom made to fit the Deville, has anyone ever been able to make their own custom fit one and if so, what did you use and how did you do it? I hate the thought of having to constantly scrub dead bugs off my beautiful Caddy's windshield!

Take it from a long-time nighttime farm country truck driver - "bug shields" don't. Maybe for part of the hood - but the critters will hit the windshield - just as raindrops do.

Ask Lloyd at AutoPride - up ^^^ in the vendors forums.

Re: Bug Deflector For a 1996 Deville?

For the designs used on modern deflectors, I would agree with you, but the older ones that stood up straight from the hood about 4 inches or so, those worked really good at deflecting air flow (and bugs) up and over the windshield. Trouble is, they're extremely hard to find these days and there was never one made specifically for my car. That has brought me to the conclusion that I will either have to custom make one myself to fit, live with the nuisance of having to continually clean my windshield of the bug carcasses and goo, or limit my night driving. The bugs aren't quite as bad during the day here. By the way, I took my Deville out for it's first road trip yesterday (about 275 miles round trip) and she performed beautifully! It was up in the mid to upper 90's all day, I was running the A/C all day, in both stop & go traffic and on the interstate, and my coolant temp never got above 212. It stayed right around 197 most of the time. Seems like I'm a lucky fellow so far. (Knock on wood!)

I FOUND THEM! The old style, flat plexiglass bug shields, and they actually make them for my 1996 Deville as well as several other Cadillacs, even the newer ones! See here: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet...lac/Categories
They aren't cheap, but it's the only place I've found that make these for these cars and they actually do work at keeping the bugs off the bottom 3/4 or so of the windshield, unlike the crappy contoured ones. I'm going to order one for sure!

I'd rather clean the window than have that big, ugly thing on my hood.

    ...But if you must:

    Agreed.

Those deflectors still don't do much good. Maybe on older cars with straight hoods.

Re: Bug Deflector For a 1996 Deville?

I decided to forgo the deflector altogether. Too expensive and not sure it will actually help. Got some Rain-X bug washer fluid instead. If that doesn't help, I guess I'll just have to live with scrubbing the windshield every so often by hand.
