    2003 DTS blower motor replacement

When I star car there is a rappiNg noise seemIng to come from under dash, goes away after a minute. When I turn on a/c or defrost the regular noise you would hear happens, but no air is blowing out, there is no rapping noise, (that's only when I start car). Is this still the blower motor not working, I'm confused because it sounds like its working but again no air is pushing out. If a/c is on you can feel cold air, but again it is not blowing out.

    Help appreciated,

    Mitch

What do you mean by "rapping noise"? From where?

If you hear and feel cold air, it's probably coming from the floor or defrost cents.

    Have you pulled your codes?

Pull any diagnostic trouble codes from your car's built-in code scanner/reader. Post them and the definitions here.

You may find that one or more blend door actuators is faulty.

Cadillac Tech Tips or Google "cadilac forums 2003 deville hvac blend door actuator" or something close. (Pull the codes and define them first. You should already have read up on the entire procedure in your 3 years in CF - if not, use the proper parts of the sticky post ^^^ "How to pull codes".

If it's a rhythmic ticking sound coming from behind/below the radio at start up, that lasts 10-15 seconds it might be a bad mode door actuator. The mode door actuator redirects air from the dash, to the floor to the defrost. With the fan on high see if any air is coming out at the floor, dash vents or defrost.

I believe that is the mode door actuator (#47).

Expanded view. Two actuators visible in the lower left (view A).

This should help you determine what your up against if you decide to replace the mode door actuator.

Check to see if when u put the ac on your thing under the hood is getting cold. If it is and no air is blowing its prob your blower motor. I myself have a 03 deville and replaced the motor myself. Easy job man
