    How many miles on it?

Are you looking at oil life remaining or trans fluid? Oil life decrements, trans fluid does not. It only goes down it if was overheated. If in fact you are looking at trans fluid and it's at 51%..............change it.

well the car said that the trans-fluid life remaining is 51% miles are 102xxx. book says to change at 50k and 100k. i dont wanna mess up the transmission on the car, i know if it has not been changed and it gets to a certian point then you cant change it.

100% Incorrect. You can change transmission fluid at any point. What you don't want to do, is a flush.

For some reason, '04/'05 Deville trans life monitors go down much quicker. There were a couple of threads on this.

What book says change it at 50K?

I forgot about hat. Did we determine that the '04/'05 DO decrement like the OLM?

Not THAT fast, but I remember one member reported 15% at ~29K IIRC.

Re: should I change my 05 Deville trans fluid?

I believe the owner's manual says to change transmission fluid at 50,000 miles when the vehicle is operated under severe service conditions, and that is defined in the manual - several conditions listed, with explanartion, right in the service interval section.

As far as I know they are they are the thing. A transmission exchange machine is a transmission flush machine. So what are you claiming the difference to be? One dealer will call it a flush, another will call it an exchange. Both using the same machine. Our RTI says exchange on the side of it, yet refers to flushing in the manual. It uses the bladder system, same as the BG flush machine, and both use the transmissions own pump to empty/fill the transmission, only adding back the amount that's been removed.

They are one in the same with different names, but if someone says "reverse flush", run like a pair of cheap pantyhose.

Re: should I change my 05 Deville trans fluid?

Assuming the fluid life monitor has never been reset...

A 49% drop in fluid life in 102K miles would be an average of 1% drop in fluid life every 2081 miles. This is right in line with what other 04-05 Deville owners have reported in the survey below.

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...le-owners.html

*** The info above only applies to the 04-05 Deville. The 03 and earlier Deville uses a different algorithm to display fluid life.
