He may think the car won't be returned for completion if it's drivable.

Perhaps he didn't know easy removal is by removing splash shield, and instead removed battery, air cleaner assembly and computer....just a thought. Heck he may haven even removed the whole pump assembly.

    I Agree ...

but an honest mechanic will gain a loyal customer by stating Facts

I would be instantly suspicious of the statement that my car will not start with the removal of a device that has nothing to do with starting my vehicle... Regardless if I should drive it or not is another aspect all together

Personally, I would take it somewhere else immediately... I wouldn't give him the chance to finish the job jus for his deceit

If he didn't really know if what he said was true, I would still take my vehicle bc now I see him as incompetent

Firestone lost my business simply bc the manager said their tire machine wasn't the type to remove or put on my specific tires... When I jus had them done there less than a year ago

His employees disagreed with him and told him they've never had any problems changing any type of tires

Once they completed the job I told them I would Never come back

You either know your Dept or u don't

Experimenting or doing crash course learning on a customers vehicle is absolutely an incompetent approach to motor vehicle services

    Jus my opinion tho

    Re: Ebcm module

I have to admit that telling someone that removing the EBCM would prevent starting does sound have a ring of incompetence to it and would make me think twice. I expect a "professional" who I am paying to do a job to know more than me.

Picked up deville today. A/C is working , vent doors are working , 'abs' 'brake' traction' lights are off but the ' service electrical system ' message is displaying and ' avg mpg ' and ' range' readings are way off and the 'airbag' light is on . Checked for codes but none are showing. Love this car but man it drives me crazy

    Wow,
Sorry to say but I'm not surprised with that but only thing I could think of is Check ur battery connection terminals?

    Maybe Loose ground wires?
    Fuses
    Relays

Ask ur Mechanic if he disconnected the Battery before working On the car... Pretty sure that's a must do when removing or installing anything electrical in these cars

Might have fried something if he didn't do that 1st

Stoplamp switch circuit. Above the brake pedal arm, wiring, trunk wiring and grounds.

That could simply be from pulling battery power. Not positive, but I think that will reset them.

If it is the stop lamp switch circuit , could that also be the cause of pc7041. ( tcc)

No. P0741 (I assume that's what you meant to type) is a leaky seal in the trans. It's a mechanical problem, not electrical. IF it is accompanied by P1860, then it is the TCC solenoid and IS electrical. Either way, the stop lamp switch is completely unrelated.

Break lights do not come on when step on brake so I will assume stop lamp switch is malfunctioning . How hard is it to change ?

Other than doing it upside down and on your back in the front seat, no. It's at the top of the brake pedal.

There are two switches? Going from bottom of the pedal to the top is it the first or second
