    A/C Problem question

What do you guys think this could be.
I turn on the a/c and after about 15 min the car temp goes up not rapidly. After one bar over normal i turn it off and it goes back down.
    Can it be the compressor?

    Re: A/C Problem question

A/C does put a little extra load on hte engine, but I wouldn't expect to see that. Besides, when you turn the A/C on it activates the cooling fans so if anything, I'd expect it to go down.

The best thing to do is to take some electrical tape and cover the gauge....

base model Deville - with the digital cluster -

one "extra" bar on the temp with the AC on -
    I wouldn't give it a second thought -

if you leave the AC on - does the temp keep raising -
or does it stay 1 bar above "normal" -

Oh, that changes everything. You have to give us ALL the facts. You have a leak somewhere. Hopefully it's external. Your mission is to locate it.

Tip: Dried Dex leaves a chalky white telltale residue.

ya - like Ranger said - that changes EVERYTHING -

    FIRST - VERY IMPORTANT -
    face NORTH -
BOW to the Northstar Gods -
and repeat "PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE" -

    THEN - do a PRESSURE TEST -

you can "rent" a pressure test kit for free from AutoZone -
or other big chain stores -

hopefully you will find an external leak -

    SECOND -
    check the PURGE LINE -
do a search - it's been discussed a million times
here - the Eldo/Seville forum - and NorthstarPerformance forum -

    LAST -
    do a BLOCK TEST -
it too has been discussed a million times -

there shouldn't be any coolant in any part of the exhaust system -

if it IS dripping from the cat -
you have big engine problems -
    like failed head gaskets -

To check for flow? no. The purge line inlet is above the proper coolant level.
