Re: Engine leaking oil on plastic cover???

That radiator sight shield is a mess. Is the top radiator hose securely clipped into the retainer channel incorporated in that cover's rear edge ??

    Junkyard time.

The oil is probably dripping from a soaked underhood insulation pad - from when someone left the oil fill cap off. No way oil comes from anywhere above that sight shield/air deflector/cover/plastic thing.

    I fixed your thread title.

Re: Engine oil leaking onto radiator sight shield ?

I just looked, the plastic clip that holds the hose in place is alil loose.so the hose is resting on the motor just under oil fill cap..but other than that, its good.

And what would cause the plastic engine cover to have oil in the pad under it along that leading edge in the pic? After i posted that,i took it off and looked at the cover.the padding under it is holding oil,but just along the front edge....would it be the same possible fill cap left off situation??
If thats the case,i shouldnt be worried about it correct? Since the cap is on and tight.and i see oil no where else in there.

And thanks for fixing the title.

Re: Engine oil leaking onto radiator sight shield ?

Get a new sight shield - unless someone has gone in and wire-tied the upper radiator hose to the radiator cross brace it's only a matter of time until the hose chafes on the engine or water pump drive and you're stranded with a blown hose/no coolant......... and that hose places a significant strain on the (plastic) radiator end tank fitting if the hose is simply hanging.

New plastic rivets on the Help! racks at parts stores, or much cheaper by the box of 25 at a Fastenal store......... You pull out the center pin, the rivet collapses and out it comes - same for the lower air deflector, too - - - and those deflectors are a necessary part of the airflow control for radiator/AC condenser cooling.
