    Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum

First let me say I'm NOT starting a new oil war. Just want opinions on the 2. My local Wally World has both in 5 qt jugs. Any value in the Mobil 1 high mileage oil for our cars? Would it matter which I choose? What do YOU use? They also have Castrol, etc but I'm not interested. While I'm at it is the ac/delco filter they have a decent filter?

I'll spare you my thoughts on using any particular brand/breed of motor oil. Except to point out your engine left the assembly line filled with 5W-30 dinosaur oil

Likewise the oil filter; your engine left the assembly line with an ACDelco oil filter.

Eh the POINT of the thread was to ask what others USED. I know what it left the factory with. But thanks for playing...

    Who's playing?

In my '04 DTS I used 5W-30 dino oil and ACDelco filters.

GM customer care posts regularly in the "current Cadillac models" forums. Usually offering to set up appointments for dealer maintenance/repair.

    But they don't count.

For what it's worth, I use an A/C Delco PF61 oil filter.

Use whatever oil meets your criteria (price, marketing claims, "testimonials"). They both do the same thing.

Re: Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum

I use what's on sale . Generally that means Farm and Fleet branded oil and Delco filters, but it does vary. All of my engines have surpassed 200k miles without ticking, knocking, or otherwise sustaining internal damage --- because only bad maintenance schedules and a touch of really bad luck can kill your engine - not fluid and filter brands. If certain brands were destroying engines, they wouldn't be on the shelves anymore - that's the beauty of the competitive nature in a capitalist economy.

Re: Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum

No TECH side of the equation to discuss - Any name brand of oil of whatever type in the recommended viscosity range for your particular engine will insure a long, happy engine life.

Discussing which oil is "better" is exactly the same as the comparisons between tires, whiskey, bottled water, women, gasolines or hand grenades. Everyone has their preferences and endless arguments won't change a thing.

"What do you USE ?" Currently, in the trucks and car, I use Pennzoil Platinum in the recommended viscosity range for each and WIX filters. In the past I have used Quaker State, Havoline, Valvoline, Castrol, JoeGibbsDriven, AMSOIL, Royal Purple and various odd others. In the past I have used Fram, Purolator, WIX, PartsMaster, Delco, Motorcraft and other filters. (Having cut apart about a skrillion oil filters over 57 years of car, boat, motorcycle and airplane ownership I have a pretty good idea of who makes what how why when good - just as in the link below.)

I have NEVER had any sort of engine failure attributable to oil or filter brand, type, whatever use.

"Our oil is better than their oil, so you need to use it !!!!" ......... Read that often enough, insert your favorite brand, and you just might begin to believe it.

This picture does not change much from year to year .............. recognize anything ??

Here's something to play with .......... as well as click on the other links in the site ............ http://www.minimopar.net//oilfilters/index.html

I wasn't suggesting they'd be able to answer your question (they'd just suggest the oil and filter that's available at a dealer), but since there's a hint of sarcasm in your replies to everyones posts, I figured I'd throw a sarcastic/pointless answer.
